MAFIA CITY MANUAL:
HOW TO PLAY?
The game starts with each player being given one Action card and one Role card.
1.Night Phase:
- The game begins with the Godfather announcing, "City goes to sleep." All players close their eyes.
- The Godfather tells the Jailer to open their eyes. Then, without speaking, the Jailer secretly chooses one person to lock up for the night. After the Jailer decides, the Godfather announces who has been jailed, and then tells the Jailer to close their eyes. (The player who is locked up can't do anything during the night phase)
- The Godfather then instructs the Mafia to silently open their eyes. The Mafia members discuss and decide whom they want to eliminate.
- Once decided, the Mafia members point towards the player they want to kill.
- The Godfather then commands the Mafia to close their eyes.
2.Godfather Interactions:
- The Godfather then asks the Doctor to open their eyes. Without speaking, the Godfather silently points towards the player chosen by the Mafia.
- The Doctor decides whether to save the chosen player by nodding or shaking their head. The Doctor has a limited number of chances (2-6 chance as mentioned in the table below) to save players.
- After the Doctor's decision, the Godfather instructs the Doctor to close their eyes.
- Next, the Godfather asks the Detective to open their eyes. The Detective silently indicates whom they suspect of being Mafia.
- Using facial expressions or gestures, the Godfather informs the Detective whether their suspicion is correct or not.
- Finally, the Godfather instructs the Detective to close their eyes, completing the Night Phase interactions.
3.Day Phase:
- The Godfather announces the start of the Day Phase and instructs all players to open their eyes.
- Depending on the doctor’s decision, if the Doctor didn't save the player chosen by the Mafia, the Godfather will announce that the xyz player is eliminated from the game because the Doctor didn't save them. However, if the Doctor did save the player, the Godfather will simply inform everyone that the Doctor saved the player the Mafia voted for.
- Players engage in discussion, debate, and accusations to uncover the identities of the Mafia members.
- After discussion, players vote on one player to eliminate from the game. The player with the highest number of votes is eliminated. The Godfather will then announce the identity of the eliminated player, but only if the player was removed through voting. The identity of players killed by the Mafia will not be disclosed by the Godfather.
- The game continues with alternating Night and Day Phases until one faction achieves its objective.
- Remember, in Mafia, trust no one and question everything. Use your wit and observation skills to survive and emerge victorious in the battle between the Mafia and the Civilians.
Action Card Distribution:
- At the beginning of the game, each player receives one Action card, except for the Godfather.
- Action cards provide players with unique abilities that can be used strategically to influence the game's outcome.
- Remember, the use of Action cards is a one-time opportunity, so use them wisely.
